I adopted my wonderful kitty, Harold, from KC Pet Project in October of 2014. She is healthy, happy, and loved, all thanks to KCPP. It is extremely difficult to run a shelter in a city of this size, but they handle the work, sick animals, and low budget with grace and efficiency. Everyone who we interacted with clearly cared about the animals and were doing the best they could to find them all homes. We adopted Harold during a special for the lowest price I have ever seen at a shelter before. We were able to take her home the same day we went in to meet her. She was up to date on all her shots, spayed, and in perfect health. I absolutely recommend this shelter to anyone ready to add a furry member of the family.
We adopted a male pup that is very big for his age, we schedule a day to get him neuter on the first Saturday of OCTOBER, they called us a day before the surgery to re-schedule him for the coming up Wednesday to get him neuter and they will call to verify the surgery and tell us what we need to do that night. They NEVER called to verify!! My husband and I been playing phone tag with this shelter because when I call I have to leave a message and I have left MY number so they can call me since my husband is AF Security Forces and is not allow to have his phone on him while he working, but they call him anyways!!!!
I was ready to adopt a dog from KC pet project. I called several times to see if the dog was compatible with cats. They never called me back. If he was compatible I was ready to put a deposit. I left my number with several employees. Checking several times a day to make sure he was still available. I will adopted from kc pet project the staff are amazing in person but lacking communication. The dog got adopted and went to a great home, I WISH it was my home.
I adopted a couple of kittens from the KC Animal Shelter and it was a very smooth process. A few days into it, one of the kittens contracted a respiratory infection. I contacted the shelter and they were more than eager to help and checked out both kittens. They gave us some medicine to go home with for the kittens and did it all, free of charge. I suggest if you are looking to adopt a pet, check out the KC Animal Shelter for your needs!
The staff was friendly and helpful, I found a random stray puppy and took him there to see if he was chipped so I could return him to the owner. They told me not to let the puppy down anywhere because there was parva all over and he would get sick. The place is a little run down but KC just passed a 40+ million dollar approval to build a palace for the puppies and kitties so I expect they will have that resolved in the coming years.
I have adopted both my cats here. Adopted 1 cat , then a year later another cat. Both were very sick. KCPP sent me home with all the medicine and told me over the next 2 weeks if the cat needed more medical attention to bring the cat back and at no charge. Which I ended up having to get more medicine for the 2nd adopted cat in which I did not have to pay for. Highly recommend you adopt your new friend from this organization.
They picked up our loose dog and took such wonderful care of him. He was very old and sick, and I am thankful they found him for me, so that we could spend his last couple of months together. My old municipal shelter would have never caught him, and, if they did, it would not have been good. I think some of the negative reviews on here are coming from a limited perspective.
They work hard to save the animals they have! I adopted my dog from there and she is the best thing that happened to our family! She came in extremely sick and they did everything they could to make sure she got back on the right track of being a healthy dog. They all work together and make such a great team!
I had a very, very good experience at the Zona Rosa site. I found my beautiful Reeses, a 10 year old German shepherd. He is sweet, loving, amd smart. We are already best of friends, and he is lovely to come home to. The staff were wonderful, amd the volunteers were, as well. Good Job, KCPET project!!!
This place was great. I had to come here because someone stole my dogs and they gave me good resources on how to find them. They let me look through all of their dogs that have been brought in. they were patient with my tears and actually helped me find my dogs, so I thank them very much
Adopted my dog from here and loved all the staff I worked with! I would refer anyone looking to adopt to go here they have such wonderful staff and reasonable prices on adoption fees and I bought all my collars ad toys here and was still a good price!
KCPP is a great no-kill shelter dedicated to animal welfare and finding good homes for great animals. They give the sick and disabled that would normally have been euthanized at any other shelter a fighting chance for the loving home they deserve.
If you want a dog please go here first and consider adopting one. You can walk right in and check out all the dogs and cats. If you are looking for a small dog, they keep them in a separate area and you have to ask someone to take you back there.
I got my best friend from the pet project, They do wonderful work. With that said, they are staffed by mostly volunteers and are sometimes shorthanded so please volunteer or donate other resources if you are in the position to do so.
Have adopted two dogs from here and the staff is totally awesome! Lol. Very friendly and clean environment for all the dogs. There also is a vet located right on site for all your questions and health needs for your dog.
Went in yesterday for our very first time! We left with our sweet girl Paige! Love this place and everyone who works/volunteers there are awesome! Thank you all for all you do for the furry friends and there families!
KC pet project is one of the greatest no kill animal shelters in the country. They are doing an awesome job taking care of animals. They will match you with a sweet pet that will change your life !
If you are looking to help a dog or a cat find a home, there is not a better place! They are excellent at helping animals and check in with the new families to make sure everyone is happy.
One of the best places to adopt a pet. The staff here are always kind and are helpful. Plus they have great ways to help you out after you adopt like training.
This is a very well run shelter. They took in a lost dog the same day I found her. I would definitely recommend it for adoption or surrender.
Its a sad place to go but its very clean and they take very good care of the animals. You will want to adopt them all and Katie is awesome
Dog neutered Wed damn near died Today emergency surgery. Would not give the dog back until we had him neutered. Clueless. Not the end.

Everyone works very hard here, and truely love and care for each animal no matter what size shape good or bad conditions!!
The shelter is a lovely place. Love the organization but it took us over 3 hours to be seen. It was so disorganized.
This is a great facility and they have a very friendly and cheerful staff. Even the volunteers are very helpful.
Awesome staff! Very willing to help, if you listen to what they ask. Highly recommend for adoptions. Astounding!
I adopted my dog last saturday the process took 2 hrs but it was a great experience and she fits right in.

This no-kill animal shelter that Kansas City Pet Project runs trains dogs as they care for them.
