The non profit was subliminally telling me to leave but i stayed...it wasnt that bad and i am desensitized from emotional stress. It wasnt until a guy with a green jacket hit me hard in the back as he was trying to sit down that i decided to leave... I dont expect much from non profits and have no standards when it comes to charity. The hit wasnt accidental...there is no physical way...i dont expect special treatment nor do i expect volunteers to be nice. My experience with charities have been especially bad because they are often operated by unprofessional ppl who have some bias...i am not looking for sympathy but american charities are...unedited grammat sentence structure ...
Just as Deirdre mentioned, this address is for The Bowery Mission. This is not for the Bowery Hotel which the pictures and reviews suggest. Please do not confuse the Bowery Mission for the Bowery Ballroom either. The Bowery Mission is a homeless shelter and rehabilitation program. They get many donations from Whole Foods and other organizations. The Bowery Mission is religiously affiliated but the people are not required to convert. Everyone who stays at the Mission is expected to work, learn, and earn their keep. They will leave the program with $3000 in savings.
Well sometimes you would be surprised what you can eat for free in this city. I have been to the bowery mission quite a few times and the food is good depending on who is cooking and what they have in their pantry. Other than that this is a palce where you go to give back and help others. The New Yorkers who needs your support and help more than anyother.
I am a mother of three that went in yesterday to eat. I have no addiction problems nor do I drink. Just a little down on my luck. Me my husband and my family went into eat and felt so welcome. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.
One of the most blessed places in New York city, and especially in the lower east side. All are welcomed, and feed 7 days a week. 1pm-2pm Lunch and 6pm-7pm dinner for those in need of a free, blessed hot meal
My son Neo is supposed to be there. However, these people have taken all of his outlets to reach out to his family. I am his Mother and all I want to do is hear from him. Please call me Son.. I Love You!!
This was the first shelter I went to when I got into the city and they directed me to leave and go somewhere else.
