New York Blood Center has tortured, abused many chimpanzees and then dumped them on small islands off the coast of Africa. On one of the islands all of the abandoned chimpanzees died. On another island these abused animals only survive from day to day by virtue of volunteers bringing them bits of food. The capture of chimpanzees by the New York Blood Center is equally cruel with the mothers being shot and the babies abducted, chimpanzees who came to the rescue where also shot. the New York Blood Centre is a cruel and evil orgnization which needs to take responsibility for these abandoned and tortured animals. Shame on the New York Blood Centre and anyone who has anything to do with this cruel organization. Shame.

After conducting invasive research experiments on almost 500 chimpanzees for 30 years and promising to provide the survivors with lifelong care, the New York Blood Center abandoned them with no food or water on islands in Liberia, leaving them to die of starvation and thirst, as reported in the NY Times on May 28th, 2015. NYBC, which has earned an estimated $500 million in royalties off of the research conducted on these chimps, cannot shift the financial burden of caring for them to animal welfare groups or the government of Liberia, as it is attempting to do. As Jane Goodall noted in an open letter to NYBC, the organization has “moral obligation” to pay for the care of these chimps.

This blood bank used chimps for decades doing research on them. Those that survived were abandoned on islands in Liberia without food or water. Animals rights organizations had to step in to keep them from starving and dehydrating to their death. This is an abomination that the New York Blood Center could use them and then discard them like a piece of garbage. I you plan on donating blood, seek out another location to do so. NYBC has no ethics and should not be in business. Shameful what they have done.

The chimpanzees are part of our ancestry as humans, so much alike you used them, perhaps abused them to get what you needed from them in the name of science, and now you abandon them and neglect them. Where is your humanity? it is your moral obligation to continue the care for these creatures. May a sense of gratitude, responsibility and love comes over the people that made the cruel and cold decision of abandoning them to oblivion, so that they rectified their decision and care for these animals forever.

HOW COULD THIS COMPANY USE THESE CHIMPS THEN DUMP THEM AND LEAVE THEM TO DIE ?! ?. THIS COMPANY IT SEEMS HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH OF MONEY TO PROVIDE CARE FOR THE CHIMPS BUT !LOOK AT WHAT THEY DID ! I CRIED WHEN I READ ABOUT THIS. THIS COMPANY ARE HEARTLESS AND ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY. I HOPE PONZO GETS TO LIFE THE REST OF HIS DAYS BEING CARED FOR AND THE OTHER APES GET THE LOVE AND RESPECT THEY DESERVE. YOUR COMPANY IS A DISGRACE !

Overall fantastic experience! This is their main location and is wonderful -- I went to donate and was in and out in 20 minutes! Very speedy, and the staff is friendly. Worth taking a detour to visit. As a bonus, they have TVs and magazines for donors, in addition to lots of food and drinks.

I dont understand how anyone could ever go to this place. After what they done to the research Chimps. Leaving them on an island to die with no food. I would NEVER USE THIS PLACE. Please do your own research

The staff were all very helpful and kind. They made sure I was feeling okay throughout the process and when I did start feeling a little faint, they brought me juice, cookies, and an ice pack.

Not a friendly or the safest of places. Also, the animal cruelty case against the charity makes for sad reading. Avoid at all costs.
