We all know the saying that used-car salesmen are at the bottom of the not-to-be trusted category. (Except for Congress, of course.) Well, at Berlin City I found it just ain’t so! Late last year I bought a used Honda there as a present for my wife, who was in the hospital for what we thought would be just a few days. Two weeks later she was still in the hospital, diagnosed with a unsuspected and highly advanced cancer. She died a week later. With little expectation of success, I called to see if Berlin City might possibly take back the car. The salesman was extremely sympathetic, but not sure it could be done -- it was not only long past their four-day return policy, but I had had the car registered in my wife’s name. He said he’d discuss it with the Sales Manager, however,  so I thanked him but mentally wrote off any hope of its working out. The Sales Manager, however, didn’t just say “Hell, no!” or put my request at the bottom of his in-box. He did some research and finally found a way to straighten out the registration. (The salesman, by the way, faithfully kept me informed of how things were progressing -- all this despite the prospect of losing his commission!) The end result was that a few days later I returned the car and got a check for the full amount I had paid for the car! No deductions for administrative costs or a dozen other things Berlin City could very legitimately have charged me for. To say I remain both grateful and impressed would be an understatement. I’d buy a car from Berlin City any day of the week and be confident I’d get exceptional service!

Do not go to Berlin City Honda for Service. The 1st visit - after I had an oil change and rotation I was driving downtown when I noticed a strange knocking noise. I decided to turn around and head straight home. I checked the tires and 90% of the bolts were finger tight. My tires almost fell off of my car while I was driving. I mentioned it when I went in for an oil change, no apology, and nothing to make up for it. So on the next oil change I needed an inspection, the told me all I needed was to fix my exhaust manifold and a small oil leak in the rear. They totally neglected to mention to me that my radiator was essentially melted and I had oil leaks in the engine as well. I took it to a different shop, who immediately pointed out all the issues and told me my car was basically scrap. Send your mechanics back to Jiffy Lube where they belong.

Unfortunately had to have the drive chain replaced on our CRV. We were pretty nervous about the cost and nature of the repair. Our advisor, Dylan K, read our situation without having to be asked, and broke the down the repair in the estimate to highlight just those aspects needed for the chain. When a related issue arose on the ride home that was an oversight in the repair process, Berlin City drove a loaner out to our house (a half-hour drive) to exchange for the CRV, so that we would not have to drive back in, and we were not charged additional fees for the repair of the oversight. Overall, our experience was very positive and we will remember it if we need dealer repair expertise in the future, and when we next shop for a new car. A VERY different experience from some other unnamed regional Honda dealers.

I went out with my mom to look at a car for her, we wanted Toyota Berlin City but ended up at Honda, so we took a CRV on a test drive with Steve Gendron-probably THE nicest salesman Ever! A few months passed and It was finally time that I wanted to look into a car. I started out more local and left the first lot and said to my mom " I want to go see Steve". We found him online and e-mailed him that night to find a night that I could go see him to talk cars. I met with him and there was no B.S.! He cut right to the point and beat my prior offer by almost $2,000!!!! It was a done deal and I had a new car! He was the most helpful, polite and nice guy ever and I would do business there again with him in a HEARTBEAT! I highly recommend doing business here if you are looking for a new Honda!

I recently brought my Honda Pilot in for the airbag recall and an oil change. Bobby greeted me immediately and had my checked in within minutes. Due to the length of time it was going to take, I decided not to stay in the waiting area. Bobby called me an hour later and suggested a few other things that my car needed. He was very informative and not pushy at all. I chose two of the three things that he suggested. Bobby called me when my car was completed. Checkout was super smooth. I was very impressed with the professionalism and the courteous service Bobby provided. And I love the small extra of a coupon for a free car wash! Thank you!!

I am a returning customer to Berlin City Honda. My husband bought his 2003 Honda Pilot July 2009 and we had a very pleasant experience. Due to their excellent customer service and respect even when we got serious about our purchase, I decided that they are the dealer for me. That said, I decided to purchase my 2013 Honda CR V from them, November 2012, and am very pleased both with how I was treated and my CR V. I had specific needs which were readily met by both BIll Waldron in sales and Traciann Keim in finance. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle.

I recently purchased a new 2015 Honda Civic Si Orange and Black from Berlin City Honda of Portland. It is a 6-speed of course. Dan Kahn and some others at Berlin City taught me how to drive this sweet showroom standard in no time. They had me driving comfortably on my own within 3 hours. This was my 2nd time purchasing a vehicle from Berlin City Honda and Dan Kahn and the rest of the Berlin City Team made my experience legendary and easy! I just moved here from North Carolina and found out I need a front license plate on my Honda Pilot as well as an inspection. I brought it to Berlin City Honda and they did the inspection FREE OF CHARGE and installed the front license plate without charging me a penny! They had to drill holes in my bumper and frame the license plate but never past the cost of labor or parts on to me. It was a great experience and I will definitely be going back there when I need something repaired.

Ryan York, the Service Advisor, insured that I understood all that would be done to my vehicle, basically performing all maintenance that was part of the excellent service agreement that is part of my lease. Recently purchased a Honda CR-V and if you are looking for a non-pressure car shopping experience, you should go to Berlin City Honda of Portland and ask for Steve Gendron. A friend referred him to me and I am so thankful she did. I am a very indecisive person and Steve was so patient during the time it took me to make up my mind, and in the end I made the correct choice, he is very knowledgeable and he laid out every option for me which helped me make my decision.

He made the process fun and comfortable. Having purchased quite a few cars from dealerships it is easy to have a bad feeling when entering one and have to say that Berlin City Honda has changed the way I feel about the whole process. I had a 5 star excellent experience. On one hand, the issue was more complicated and time-taking than I had anticipate, however, David Nguyen took excellent care of me - and I left telling one of my car dealership owning friends (he owns three Saco dealerships - Volvo, Ford, etc) about how great my experience was. I felt like the staff was patient, intelligent and confident with their information. David was responsive and well-informed.

I have never had a bad experience at this Honda dealership. My car has ALWAYS been ready when they said it would no the service staff has been extremely attentive and friendly. When I went to pick my car up after service and had a question about how to use a feature in my car, the service staff went out of their way to be sure they helped me figure it out! The worst place that i have every bought a car i was treated like crap and i am still a month later i cannt drive a car i paid 30,000 dallors for. I been fixing mess ups by them since i bought a car from them. I would not ever be buying a car from them ever again. Service department is not functioning well..Last time i was there to get an oil change and state inspection...Waited for 4 hours...Can you believe that?? And when my car was done , they forgot to put sticker on, i had to go back inside again to tell them ..its just ridiculous place..They are not very nice ..low level customer service...
