I would like to explain a few things that would have been helpful to know had someone pointed it out on here. First, I must dispell the myth that it is full of homeless people. It is not. Every donor MUST be verified with a residential address. When you go for the first time you will need proof of social security # (the actual card, w-2, etc). Driver license or other state photo ID. A piece of mail from within 30 days. You cannot use a business address; they have a book of addresses from business and motels, hotels and if the address you have is one of those, it will not count. Again, who ever says it is full of homeless people is wrong. They are actually very strict with vitals and information. Weekends are the worst to go. They process 1 new donor every 30-45 minutes and that can mean a long wait when there are 25 in front of you. You have to read a booklet and they will ask you questions about it. They will give you a physical. They will visually check your veins to see if you can donate. They will check your vitals each and everytime, meaning they call you into a room and weigh you, check markings to make sure you have not donated elsewhere, they will prick your finger (it does sting!) and extract a small vial of blood to test it right there for protiens, iron, etc. They will take your blood pressure. All these things have to be within a certain range in order for you to donate on that visit. You can go twice a week. Pay for the first time is $30 and depending on your weight, the second donation $15 or $30. They give you a debit card and deposit the money 20 minutes after you are finished donating. The process went alright for what it was. It took a 1/2 hour for them to get the minimum donation out of me. The staff were friendly and respectful. There are all walks of life donating and it is downtown...but hey, 99% of us are there because we need the extra $200 a month. Good luck!

NO STARS FOR OCTAPHARMA ------ If I could describe Octapharma in one word it would be "GHETTO" . This place is nasty, unorganized, rude people, time consuming, UNHEALTHY. I stressed UNHEALTHY because I went there 3 times in a row and at three different screening stations (Where they draw your blood) there was blood splatters on the counter. I noticed the staff there at Octapharma does not wipe down their area with like alcohol to sanitize the area each time they draw peoples blood. There is old blood splatters on ALL of the counter tops as NONE of the different people who pricked my finger and took my blood cleaned their area (I watched them) I also wore my glasses and looked at the counter and the equipment on the counter and blood splatters are EVERYWHERE. GROSS. When I went to Talecris to donate plasma, the techs there wipe down their ENTIRE work area with sanitizer EACH TIME and use a clean paper towel for you to put your hand on when they prick you and draw your blood. I feel this unclean practice is a potential for spreading blood-borne disease and I wont ever go back to this place. They arent sweating about that though, as they have scores of people lining up there before opening EVERY DAY waiting for HOURS to donate. No place to sit, just herded up and crowded in a hallway like cows waiting to be milked..........hold up,,,,,, thats what WE ARE TO THEM!!!! Cows waiting to have our blood milked out of our bodies for a measly $20 bucks!! This joint needs to be shut down as a menace to public health!!

The staff here is decent. You have some workers who are great like Jessica and April. On the other hand everyone else thinks this is a lounge where all the employees talk to eachother and make the pre screening line go SUPER SLOW. I had to leave to go to work on 9/16/17 after standing in the pre screening line for 3 hours with no payment because I could not donate. NOT COOL to see other staff members socializing with eachother at their job while we all stand in line waiting for your staff to be done! This is unnacceptable and I will be personally coming to that location to speak with a manager to get some type of compensation because YOUR staff messed up my frequency rate. When trying to speak with a manager or someone on the staff all we get is "were doing our best" , this is insane!

on friday the 12th i had to take a sample test to be able to donate plasma my test results came on saturday the 20th so i called on saturday to see if i can donate the person i talked to said the doctor has to sign my test so i can donate but she said the doctor wont be there till monday so i called monday the nurse said the doctor he wont be there till tuesday on tuesday i called and the nurse told me the doctor wont be there till thursday i called back to speak to the person in charge the person at the front desk had me talk to the same nurse who claimed to be a "superviser" (we both knew she wasnt) she said the doctor will be there on thursday. i really dont appreciate the run a round.

Been going for 3 years now, its getting worse, dont know if im going back, last timd i was there, they got blood all over my clothes, one kf tbe supervisors told me since i had bought the shirt the day before, thay i could go get the reciept and tbey would reimburse me. Yhe shirt only cost 16 dollars, but they wasnt the point, i stay 30 mins. away, so to go home and then come back only to be told by anothet supervisor that she couldnt do that, said i had to take my clothes to the cleaners. It took up my fime, my gas and i felt belittled. Call back to talk to director, im not letting this go, cause thats just not right

Just donated today i was in and out. The problem was getting my money. I walked home about an hour when my momey wasnt on the card yet. I call and they tell me in 5 minutes that it hasnt been processed yet. Another half hour still no money. I call and now they keep hanging up on me. So i gotta walj back. Finally they answer the phone when im almost there. I speak with a manager and she does is give me an express pass for wasting 2 hours if my time. Thabk you dee. Great job keep it up

Well to start my wife is allergic to idion told the one sticking her hlshe is allergic and put it on anyway and sent. My wife into an asthma attack that ended her in the hospital they dont care wbo u r if ur white dont go there they r racest rude and inconsiderate go to biomat usa they give $20 bonuses everytime on top of the money they give each time u give plus they r very respectfull clean profesional and mature about everything

I have donated here for years although I here people talk about the bad times they have here I have never had a problem knock on wood. I do agree the staff spends more time talking about there personal problem then they do helping people!!!!! So in closing if your workers can spend more time helping people and less time talking to each other things would move much faster so for now good job guys

I was almost killed here. My machine was incorrectly set up. And on my first return of blood i saw a hug stream of air going straight for my vein!! I immediately pinched the tubes so it would stop and yelled for the ppl to come un hook me. I was paid but almost cost me my life. Octhapharma told me it was my fault and not to touch the machines and i got deferred for 56 days

Very unorganized lots of foul language and the kiosk takes a lot of time , it should not read the questions and answers. If you could read questions yourself will cut a lot of time off your visit there. Fridays and sundays are crazy Saturdays and mondays in and out of there in 2hrs which is cool compared to 4 to 5 hrs there

@mad donor you must be blind! I went there October 13 and the place was immaculate!! When I went four years it WAS run-down looking. As for the phlebotomists knowing what they are doing, they do just fine and are very professional in their duties. Josie has been there for years, since it was Pyramid.

Place is a dump, bathrooms filthy and stinks, workers continue to play and not take their jobs seriously. Management obviously takes no pride in their establishment. On a positive note, there are a few hard workers but I would never recommend this place. Avoid

Every visit is two hours!! The people who do the needle part are so rude and talk and sing more than work!! They will stop what they are doing to talk to each other! Its so disrespectful. Need new staff! Of course majority of the staff is black. Slow af!!

Very dirty.they NEVER have saline it does make me feel different wen they drain me with water.they poked me wrong n got a nasty bruise.staff is unprofessional!!machines barely work.went there 3 times.it was dreadful.csl is way better.

Its a bit of a wait but the staff is cool.. I got Reena as a phlebotomist today and i hv had her b4 but she has the smoothest sticks and gentle hands.. Their are only a few I can say this about here but she is good..
