The Shade Tree is a Social Services Organization located at 1 W Owens Ave, North Las Vegas, NV 89030. The center operates 24/7 and aims to provide shelter and other services to those in need. The organization has a rating of 2 based on customer reviews.
The reviews indicate mixed experiences with the quality of service at The Shade Tree. While some reviewers appreciate the support and resources provided, others express concerns about hygiene and management. Issues such as bed bugs, lice, and poor sanitation in bathrooms are frequently mentioned. The staff is described as a mix of helpful and unhelpful individuals, with some accused of favoritism.
The Shade Tree is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it accessible at all times. However, some reviewers mention that the center is not very child-friendly, with limited hours for child-specific rooms and strict rules about children's behavior.
The center offers various services and amenities, including case management and classes. Volunteers can earn "ribbons" for first pick of donated items. However, the reviews suggest that the center could improve its amenities, particularly in terms of hygiene and child-friendliness. Issues like communal showers without privacy barriers are mentioned.
The Shade Tree has faced criticism for its management, with some reviewers mentioning incidents that raise questions about the organization's oversight and resource allocation. There are also concerns about the center's ability to handle extreme weather conditions safely.

i spent some time there before leaving it was not the best place for children but it is a huge jump up from sleeping on the sidewalks, as for the clients who live there not all of them practice good hygiene and i would often get bathroom chore where body fluid where left on the floor or feces would often be on the wall, floor, or on the seat its self. lice, bed bugs, roaches, and mice are overflowing inside of shade tree 2nd and 3rd floor have bedbug outbreaks constantly the mice and roaches stay in the basement with the food supply and often chew throuh the food they bring up to the kitchen for consumption. the showers are all done in a huge room with no privacy at all and all of the dirt, hair, body fluids from everyone showering clogs the drain and always floods the floor with what i call "the soup" , most of the advocates there are very nice people to be around and are often very helpful and the case workers are helpful as well with an exception to few who absolutely hate their job and their clients as well you must do your chore that is assigned everyday in the chore book and take classes i believe minumum of 5 a week unless told otherwise from your case manager. you can volunteer and earn ribbons so you can get first pick of the donated items shade tree "DOES" play favoritism to those who constantly report others a.k.a "snitches" who can do no wrong in their eyes and are always overlooked when they are involved with breaking any policy or procedure so if you are considering shade tree try to make it a last resort shelter and excersise your other options.

I spent a month at this shealter with my toddler, it is not very kid friendly. They have a child room, but it is only open about 3 hours a day, when I was there you were forced to leave certain hours, usually the hottest ones during the day. Your kids cannot run around at all or you will be given a warning, 3 and your out. Try keeping your kid from running at all, its imposible, the shower was made without barriers, everyone and up to their 7 year old son can see you. One of the lead people threw away my bag with alot of important papers in it even though I gave notice I would be an hour late due to being held up at the doctor. Better than the street but not the freindlist or safest place to be.

When I went here in 2015. I was scared where I was living at and I ended up here. I was there for 20 mins and I did not want my daughter in that environment . The bathrooms had toilet paper on the floors. There was poop in the showers. Where we eat at the floors were sticky and dirty. I also can tell that the staff members had their favorite ones, because I seen them let some get away with what they would not let others. I was so grossed out I ended up going back to where I was scared to live at because living there was better. Even to the next day I got attacked by them and ended up somewhere so much better.

The idea is noble but unfortunately they are not put into practice and there is little to no oversight or auditing. The recent death of a 52 year old woman who was sent out without being either referred anywhere else or even with water into 100 degree plus weather and was dead lessthan 24 hours later. The charging of the director with domestic violence and an obvious mismanagement of funds and resources make this a worrying situation.

First time I stayed there it was ok. The next time I needed to, I went in daily for a month and they never had a bed for me. They were blatantly discriminating against me.
