I brought a client to the local Food Shelf - this is an awesome resource. To anyone whom is eligible: head over and shop for some fresh goods! My client returned hone with items such as fresh milk, pre-sliced cheddar cheese, yogurt, really healthy, bright, top of their game oranges, hamburger and sausages, and many other name brand items such as crackers, bread, cooking/baking staples, and snacks. I noted that our food shelf *is directly* on a bus route, as well. I spoke with staff who informed me that we have a few satellite food shelves around the city as well (limited ocations, including Salvation Army, Downtown Rochester, MN) There were a few items being given out that were stamped and a bit past their *expiration* (not "best by") date, or a little moldy. It is up to each individual to take what they can make use of and leave the rest. The photo I included is of some aweomsely sweet, ripe oranges my client picked up and shared with me on the way home :)
