First off, the food is great! Chef Amy does a great job putting together menus (which change daily, based on available, seasonal ingredients) for meals that are simple, tasty, and nutritious. Secondly, the mission: the Cafe is only open for lunch, and is a community-supported charitable organization, operated by only a few paid employees. Most of the staff you see are volunteers. Anyone can come in, have a great meal, and either pay with money or by volunteering their time for an hour or two. This summer, because of generous community funding, kids under 12 can eat free every day! I recommend it to everyone!

You can choose small, medium, or large plate sizes for suggested donations of $5, $7, & $9, drinks are included. Instead of tips for the wait staff - who are volunteers- extra money goes toward a meal for someone in need. If you are in need, you can volunteer and receive a meal. The menu is small and changes frequently, and the food is always excellent. Wonderful ambiance, friendly volunteers, and great food. The only downside is they are only open Monday - Friday 11:00am - 2:00pm.

I discovered this place several months ago and have eaten lunch there many times. The food is good and served by friendly volunteers. The dining area is immaculately clean. Their concept of feeding anyone with an appetite is a wonderful gift to our community.
