Horrible, the way they treat ppl in need is such a shame, my experience is The workers had A attitude with me for no reason. I had contact with 4 different women and they all seemed upset with me. It was clear they hate The ppl they have to service. The wait was beyond belief . After waiting 8 hours the worker I had gave my landlord less than 24 hours, to accept A $200 payment if not I would have to take another full 8 hour day and reapply. My landlord did not accept the voucher because they do not accept partial payments, so I was forced to return and reduce the whole process over again. Waiting 8 hours. My situation was an emergency, if these funds are for those in need while providing employment for those who do the screening I dont understand why they would even treat people the way that they do. Poor shaming. I pray to God that I never, ever get in a situation like this again and have to resort to this place. The only ppl who were nice were the volunteers that provided the beverages and they came from an outside agency. This place is a nightmare and added more stress to my already stressful emergency. I spent 8 hours waiting for A voucher that expired less than 24 hours.

If you are white and you get an African American worker expect to be treated unfairly. Read you documentation carefully as they will put false info on there to make you look bad. They will do everything they can do to make sure you get no assistance. They will be rude and barely even speak to you. You will see the african american population get assistance and if you talk to them in the lobby you will learn they got huge assistance a couple of months back and hetting more again. Spanish people always go first in the free store regardless of when they come in and they take everything. They are rude and get longer than 30 mins to shop. They lie about how many family members and their income. They hide/ steal items in baby car seats and cover it up. The guards do nothing. There are instances when a guard is needed. But all the guards do..especially the one with his ears sticking out...is text and flirt . They stick together...dont ever seperate and have no customer service or quard skills at all. They are rude too. They do not earn any kind of pay check.

I love this place. They have helped me and my family through a very tough time. I find myself going back after 10 years and i see new workers who dont know the meaning of being nice. I had one worker at the window#3 on 6/4/17 who was very rude to me when i asked if she could staple my paperwork...she told me i was rude because i interrupted her...i meant no harm...long lines and waits make you anxious..she snatched the paperwork out of my hand and stapled it backwards! Long lines ans waits you tend to notice everything. I was wondering why was there a worker in window#6 on 6/4/17...texting on her cellphone several times.taking her time fixing her hair straightening items on her desk..the picture frame placed very carefully...im on disability sat down there from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45...only to be sent home to come back the next day. There should be a better system and training of workers i dont want to be there i have no choice its frausting to have to go and deal with attitudes. Dont kick a man when they are down.

This place was designed to assist as many people in immediate crisis as possible. To reduce your frustration understand that a lot of Mecklenburg County residents may need assistance like you. So be prepared to wait. Look at their website because it gives you information on what you need to bring with you to request assistance. If you need help paying a utility bill, you have to come first thing in the morning the day your services are due to be disconnected otherwise a caseworker will ask you to come back on that day.

This is a wonderful organization that provides assistance to those in need in our community. I had the opportunity to volunteer in the donation center. I sorted items that had been donated and would be made available in the free store.

The work that they do is outstanding. The staff really work hard to serve the public. They really need volunteers. Please help. They except individuals, groups and children as young as 5 as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
