I went to the human society to find a kitty. I hadn’t been there before and was pleased to see how open and friendly it is. The cats were in a large cat friendly room with windows for viewing and once an adoption counselor was given my case I was allowed to go in the cat room to visit with all of them. I already had been to the website so came with a kitty picked out. I named her Mia, I was told she was a stray who wasn’t good with other cats and had strange ways. So when I saw her in the cat room getting along fine I had no worries that she would fit in at home. She doesn’t like to be held but that’s probably to be expected for a cat that was homeless. She is very calm and friendly comes right to me to be petted just doesn’t want to set on my lap which is fine. She moved right in and found her place, likes being a house cat. She’s not afraid of the dogs or the other cat. This is such a positive experience, I feel good helping a needy pet and she is so happy to have a home. So many need homes, so adopt don’t shop and always spay and neuter and go to HSBH and help a pet find a good home. If you can’t take one home then give a cash donation and or supplies to help with their care.

I went in with my sister and friend to look at a dog to maybe adopt. It was all going well until I put my hand flat up to a kennel, I was not putting my hand in the kennel, and there was an extremely rude and arrogant employee who decided to yell at us from across the room to not put our fingers in the kennel. I understand that some dogs can be aggressive, but this dog was not and we were seriously interested in it. We went to look at different dogs and my sister and my friend put their hand up to the kennel and she yelled at them even louder to get our hands out of the kennel. We ended up leaving due to her and how rude she was. My sister was very upset because she wanted the dog so her dog is lonely and needs another dog to play with. I would not recommend this humane society. It is not acceptable that she would treat us so poorly when we are willing to adopt a dog from them. We have adopted many animals from them, but now we will never give our business to them ever again.

Sweet staff but the manager is a b**** the dogs are very uncared-for shoved into small Kennels allowed to sit in own poop some dogs were not even allowed to go for walks we were allowed to visit a dog walk the dog have one on one with the dog unsupervised but when we tried to adopt the dog we were told we are not allowed to cuz of her breed and we have young children she is 1/4 Pitbull

Very rude staff and smells horrible. There was feces all over in the dog kennels and many of the dogs clearly needed baths as they were not gromed at all. I had called the day before and put an hold on a dog until 12pm the next day. I got there at 11am and after I had driven 6 hours to pick up the dog they had let someone else adopt the dog. Very poor service will never return!

Worst place ever someone stole my dog from my home and she got placed there then I asked to volunteer time to get her back as times are tough. And they refused they changed the price every time I called and want you to pay twenty dollars a day plus reclaim fee of 65 and they dont even take care of the animals there:(

Adopted my dog a month ago and they told me that his neautering fees were going to be $150.00, I went there and the total was $450.00. Im not very happy about what they told me about how much it was all going to be but overall I love my dog and Im happy I adopted him.

Not a no kill shelter, animals that are adoptable routinely euthanised, some good folks there who really care, but some should find a job elsewhere, administration intentionally blind to unacceptable issues and personel.

Staff was very rude and the facility was dirty and not well maintained. Took a vary long time to get service and previous paper work that was filled out had been "lost"

Kennels could be a bit cleaner, animals look like they need more attention. Adoption prices are okay, but if not neutered/spayed, should be less.

Found our sweet dog here. The staff was very helpful and you can see they try hard to help find good homes for the animals there.

The staff was extremely helpful in helping us find our lost cat. They even called about a week later and asked for an update.
